I never really understood the draw of vicodin, but that was probably because I never had any serious pain that needed to be soothed. Let me just tell you how much I love it this weekend. Such a nice feeling except I also can't shut up after I take it.

I hope I can go to work tomorrow.

Hello from my new computer!! I splurged and bought myself an early birthday present-- I got a G4 iBook. It's pretty cool. I set up the wireless network in my apartment, so right now I'm sitting at the diningroom table enjoying the slight north breeze and a cup of coffee. (But my head hurts like the worst ever. I've taken 6 advil already today and it's only 12:30.) This is really neat. It'll take some getting used to the Mac setup, but it is supposed to be much more stable than windows and fewer viruses (for now). I also have sound, which is a first for my computer since about 2002. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing because now I might have to download stuff on iTunes (which is already installed) and burn CDs...

Ok, that's all, just wanted to share about my new friend! ;)

By what could only be described as pure luck, Nick, Brian, Mike and I got all-access backstage passes to the Sounds of the Underground tour. We met a lot of musicians, including Opeth, which you may recall is Nick's favorite band ever. Nick was in heaven. I just had fun. It's like a little city backstage at those places!

I seem to have accumulated a cat. Long story. But-- if anyone wants this poor guy or knows anyone who does, PLEASE let me know. I'm not allowed to have it and I really don't want to get evicted, but I can't send this little fellow to the APL and risk him being killed :(

Horrifically scary thing I just heard on a liberal talk show:

"The courts secure the future of freedom in America. We cannot trust the whims of the majority."

Discuss.

Subject:Why this has been just about the worst week of my life
Security:Public

Actually, I HOPE this is the worst week of my life, but somehow I doubt it. It would just be nice to have it over.

It all started Friday with something as innocuous as a bad outing to sushi. We went to Pacific East and got the worst service ever there. Usually they are ok; not great, but ok. But this time we waited for 15 minutes before we were seated- which would be fine except that there were tables open- it was just that no one bothered to stop and seat us. Then we waited another 15 minutes for someone to come to our table... Anyway, it was bad, but that was the least of my problems.

Saturday morning I decided to scrub the bathroom (with bleach of course) and nearly killed myself. I'm pretty sure I gave myself chlorine poisoning.

Saturday afternoon, my grandma died, and the true awfulness ensued. I had told her on Friday night that if she was ready to go, we'd be ok. I have to think that she took this to heart because I know that no one else could manage to say that to her. Everyone was using euphamisms and veiled speech. But I asked her if she was scared and she nodded. And I told her that it would be ok... I just didn't realize that in the short term it would NOT be ok. Thus the terribleness of Saturday--Wednesday occurred. I have never seen anyone so upset as my mother when they put her mother's casket into the ground.

On Sunday, Nick and I had the hugest fight ever. I found out that he lied to me about something. Not anything that would ruin our relationship, but he LIED to me. We argued for about 73 billion hours, until it was far to late to get any decent sleep for the week ahead.

Forward to Thursday... I go to the doctor and find out that I need a new prescription. The old one isn't working. I'm scared to death to try it just beacuse I've used a dozen that have been more or less awful, why should this one be any different?

Now I wake up Friday to discover that my wisdom teeth are enraged at me. My right side hurts soooo bad. So I had to call around and discovered that I will have to pay upwards of a thousand dollars to have this taken care of. And this is just half my mouth. And I won't be able to afford general anesthesia, I will just have to get novocaine and laughing gas. This should be good. I go Tuesday for my consultation. Please wish me luck.

Oh, and all this is not even mentioning the little horrible things... Like how the electric company was going to turn off our power because they never got our payment, then treated me like trash on the phone when I paid it by check-by-phone. They said "Are you sure it won't bounce?" Excuse me, but it is not my problem that you didn't get our check, don't treat me like that.... Like the collection agency that called me on my cell phone to ask about a hospital bill that I paid months and months ago. Somehow *I* had to take time and prove that I had paid it. And once again they treat you like trash, even when I proved that I had paid it so long ago. If this goes on my credit report, I am going to SCREAM.

So that was my week. How's yours?

I must provide a brief explanation for my absence from so many places right now. Grandma has been in the hospital and is fairly terminal. Lots of family obligations to tend to. But do feel free to call me.

Subject:Christmas Update...
Security:Public

I started Christmas shopping today. It was terribly unsuccessful! I didn't get a single thing.

My budget is pretty tight this year, so I am trying to be imaginative, but frankly the mall is not a very imaginative place. So I decided on something that I am going to do for all my friends (like I'm going to tell you here!!!!!). It's small, but I hope you all like it :)

As for the rest of 'em... My dad and grandpa are the most difficult to buy for. I have NO CLUE what to get. I have the budget of a tenth grader this year, but I'm 23, I should be able to get something nicer for them. I don't think a "I <3 My Dad/Grandpa" mug is going to cut it :P Any ideas would be appreciated ;)

I've been putting off writing this for a few days, and turns out that was the right thing to do because things have gotten worse, so now I can post all the funk in one shift.

Monday my car was severely injured. It's currently in AICU. I got into a crash on Clifton trying to avoid traffic because of an accident on 90, and the entire side of my car was totalled. Luckily, the woman did not hit my front end and the internal organs are ok. But I am sans my car now for at least a few weeks, and I miss it terribly. Instead I am driving a red pie pan w/ an automatic transmission. I nearly blew away in the windstorm next week.

Today Nick was ... well terminated from his job, I guess. They said he was doing fine but didn't "fit". Apparently over the last week or so, he and the woman he worked directly with (the boss) clashed over political views and I have a feeling this was it. I have no idea what we will do. He's already got two interviews set up next week, but... I had finally been able to let me breath out, feel like *I* could have some flexibility and here we go again. Now I can't leave my job, no matter how much they want to make fun of me, put me down or underutilize me... *Sigh*

I just wonder when the constant stream of blows will end. It's been almost a year now running that life has been downright awful. It has got to end soon, right?

I have a really freaky feeling.

I can't tell if it's related to the election or not. Because I also am all psyched out about work right now, and supposedly the other job I applied for is going to start calling people this week for interviews (and the woman whose position it is that's being hired for said I sounded like a prime candidate for it).

But I am veeeeery unsettled tonight.

Subject:Yesterday at 4:18...
Security:Public

Yesterday I was at work at 4:18 and the phone rang. I answered it and dealt with whatever the issue was. It rang again at 4:18, and again I dealt with it... Five more times the phone rang at 4:18 and I thought to myself "How many darn times is this phone going to ring at 4:18?!?!?!?!?"

That's when I looked around and realized that my clock got stuck, and by then it was 4:47.
